When Your Prayer Journal is Almost Full

I started to squeeze the last final lines from the pastor’s sermon onto the page of my prayer journal. I am trying to squeeze as much as I can into this faded green moleskine journal. Although I do not like to use the final line on the page, I will do it anyways this time just to savor the final pages of the journal. This journal was one that had been started back when I was starting my life out as a new college graduate. I had just passed the NCLEX. God was pulling me through the valley and onto the mountain. He was faithful then. He is faithful now. With only three pages left in the journal, I reflect back on what the Lord has taught me over the past year…

To abide in Christ, you must LOOK, LISTEN, LIVE, & LEARN -Alex Himaya

You need to pray with passion & urgency. We can pray with just words, but when you pray with passion, you become intimate with God. Be persistent in your prayers. God is always preparing. During the waiting time, God is getting us ready for something great. Tell God exactly what you need in detail. Be precise. Be reflective on these verses…

Luke 18:35-39 (NLT)

35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. 36 When he heard the noise of a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him that Jesus the Nazarene[a] was going by. 38 So he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

39 “Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him.

But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

James 4:2 (NLT)

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

With all of this… do not forget to be positive. You have to expect an answer to prayer. We have to ask in Faith. You have to know the promises in scripture and believe that God will fulfill your needs.

The main issue is healing and freedom from past experiences and living with complete trust in God who looks over every detail of our life with tender mercy and infinite wisdom. –John Thomas

God is so good. He is always faithful. Never changing. The person that changes is us. We must overcome the thoughts, actions, sins of the past and become a new creation in Him. For he created us to be new. He created us to live in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NLT)

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

I will savor these last three pages of this journal. Even thought it is filled with mixed feelings, I am excited to start a new one. I am excited to make the starting words of the new journal with impact and finish it up with confidence in the one who created me. His love is always and forever. He will continue to write my story…

…for when your prayer journal is almost full, you start a new one.
